Web Design An Art Or Science

By Mr. Manish Rawat  [ 507 Words ]

Web design is an art. You can always study and learn, but much of the success of this work depends on creativity, imagination and inventiveness (very difficult to train). The science is in study of tools, languages and techniques are, however, essential, and a site is a project that should be achieved in stages.

So we must first understand and plan for whom should we design (target audience) and finally, how it should be designed. It needs a lot to talk to potential users, question them, to understand what could be their taste or wishes or expectations. It is also essential not to confuse those ideas that could be implemented with only the real objectives of the site, subtle but important difference.

Each site has a minimum goal to be achieved. This means having good accessibility, obtained through a network of contacts and advertising and a good placement on search engines. But this is the parallel aspect to web design. Here we will focus simply on the techniques of building good sites.

So, that means visit must be well constructed? and well designed. It must be beautiful to look, with proper navigation intuitive in its interface, with appropriate links to content section which must be content rich and pleasant to see. The visitor must be attracted and encouraged to remain on site and not tired to run away, perhaps looking for similar sites.

Regarding the design, there are numerous technical issues, relating to building layout, programming the navigation bar, to the design of images and interfaces.

Underlying all this there are two guidelines to keep in mind, always present under development and analyzed as below.

Keep It Simple: Every type of site must be constructed according to certain principles of simplicity, linked to the mere development of the code, the navigability of the site and the ease with which it presents to the visitor. They say - finding the 'instant gratification, i.e. to be immediately satisfied in terms of content and in terms of ease of retrieval of resources.

Know your HTML: Often happens that important sites, covering a large company or products, are built using tools WYSIWUG (What You See Is What You Get): the risk is the production of a little optimized code, sometimes complex, messy, all such factors affect the success of the site. Conversely, it is essential to possess excellent skills on those at the bottom are the basics of web design, and therefore good knowledge of (X) HTML and CSS is necessary. The tools should be used to develop more convenient and fast HTML, but it is unthinkable not to analyze the final code, in order to optimize it.

Ultimately, the editing tools are used to increase the productivity of writing code and not the automated code. Though we do everything manually but we do use softwares and online tools. So web designing is truly an art or science?
