N96 employs 16 GB internal memory and this memory can also be extended by using microSD cards up to 8 GB. It also supports the NAND memory of 256 MB and SDRAM memory of 128 MB. The huge memory capacity enables the users to store the video contents and other data.

N96 offers the local connectivity by using the Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). Micro USB enables the users to connect their set to the personal computer or laptop. It also supports WLAN. N96 uses the browser XHTML WAP 2.0 for surfing the internet with the protocols TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol). E-mail facility is supported by using the protocols POP3 (for incoming mails), SMTP (for outgoing mails) and IMAP 4, MMS and instant massaging is also supported.
