Dentures Clinic

By Miss. Sophia Pisces  [ 621 Words ]

In order to make complete cure for your dental problems some of the dental treatments would be advised to you but at the same time you must get it confirmed that the dentist you have selected must be capable to bring you out of your dental problems.

It can be difficult to speak clearly when you are missing teeth or missing teeth makes eating little difficult. And some times you start avoiding foods that are extremely sticky or hard. That means you are missing many essential things which you are eager to have but not possible for you due to missing teeth or due to dental disorder. To solve your problem of missing teeth, dentures will be perfect option for you.

Removable partial dentures usually consist of replacement teeth attached to pink or gum-colored plastic bases, which are connected by metal framework. Your dentures need maintenance, but care also needs to be given to the tissues under your denture. Dentures are false teeth made to replace teeth you have lost. Dentures can be complete or partial. Complete dentures cover your entire upper or lower jaw. Partials replace one or a few teeth.

Advances in dentistry have made many improvements in dentures. They are more natural looking and comfortable than they used to be. But they still may feel strange at first. In the beginning, your dentist may want to see you often to make sure the dentures fit. Over time, your mouth will change and your dentures may need to be adjusted or replaced. Be sure to let your dentist handle these adjustments. Speaking and eating may feel different with dentures. Be careful when wearing dentures because they may make it harder for you to feel hot foods and liquids. Also, you may not notice things like bones in your mouth.

Tooth loss can occur for several reasons such as periodontal disease, decay or trauma. It is important that you have regular check ups with your dentist and that you have any missing teeth replaced as soon as you possibly can to prevent any excess wear to existing teeth in the long terms. The first thing your cosmetic dentist will do at your initial meeting will be to examine your mouth and gums to decide your suitability for having dentures fitted. If you have a few existing teeth it may be that some of your existing teeth may need to be removed first. If this is the case your cosmetic dentist will explain the reasons why your teeth need removing before proceeds to the impression stage of the treatment.

Dentures are an acceptable solution, but no match for our real teeth! Hence we always try to save natural teeth. When the teeth are removed we are left with a ridge of bone on the upper and lower parts of our mouth that we can use to put false teeth on. The lower denture always takes a little more work for most patients to get used to for two reasons: lack of height of bone and presence of the tongue.

The dentist takes an impression and the measurements of your jaws. The color (shade) of the teeth is determined either from your natural teeth or a denture you may already be wearing. A mould of the wax-up denture is made, the wax is removed and the remaining space is filled with pink plastic in dough form. Usually a "wax try-in" of the denture is made so that adjustments can be done before the denture is completed. The mould is then heated to harden the plastic. The denture is then polished and made ready for the patient to wear.
