All You Require To Know About Ruby

By Mr. Angara .com  [ 538 Words ]

It is absolutely true that when it comes to jewelries and gem stones then there are immense choice is available. For getting best deal people go to jewelry shops available in the nearest market and the shops that are available on the internet. Jewelries made up of gold, silver and with some parts of platinum always stay in demand. If you are not much interested in metallic jewelries and want to go for an alternative but equivalent option then the option of gem stone jewelries is available for you.

Gemstones are quite striking in both look and price. Still there are chances that you can receive a deal with best product and the budget within your reach. Some of the precious stones available in this category include emerald, sapphire, diamond and ruby. All these vary in their shape, size, weight and color. Despite of the fact that all the gem stones have a unique place in the jewelry market as well as in the heart of the people, ruby has its own significance. Like sapphire, it is also a sort of mineral corundum but it differs with sapphire when it comes to color comparison.

Ruby is the birthstone for the July month. The name ruby ahs been originated from the Latin word rubber, that means red. Approximately, 90 % of the world’s total rubies are found in the regions of Burma and Myanmar. Some of the other places where lands are exploited for the extraction of rubies include Ceylon, Thailand, Vietnam, Nepal, Afghanistan and northern Pakistan.

They are highly used for the making of rings especially wedding and engagement rings. They are among the hardest ever known substances along with the gem stones. They are also preferred in the pendants that people used to wear on ceremonies, and other auspicious occasions. They are also a highly effective gift for the friends and relatives. As mentioned above, Ruby is not only a precious stone but also a very hard substance.

This is the reason why ruby tipped blades are applied for cutting several other extremely hard substances. It is not only demanded by the people but also by the industries as well. For enhancing the color and clarity now-a-days the majority of natural rubies are treated in heat. This is mainly concluded because color is the major factor with the help of which one can easily determine the quality of the ruby.

In addition to color, clarity is also a very crucial factor. Highly authentic rubies are not used in the manufacturing of less expensive jewelries. Here, ruby that is genuine to a very extent but also opaque in nature is applied. Rubies of high quality are extremely difficult to locate. They are rarer to find in comparison to that of diamond.

There is a gemstone known by the name of spinel which is virtually identical to ruby. It is available in numerous colors but the most renowned color is red. As location also being the same it is quite difficult to verify their identity. The best way is to make a comparison between their hardness. Certainly, Ruby is much harder in contrast to spinel.
