Aerosur Airline - Flight Information

By Miss. Joele Harbar  [ 413 Words ]

Aerosur is based in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. This private airline operates domestic scheduled services, international flights as well as chartered services. Its main base is at Viru Viru International Airport, Santa Cruz.

Aerosur was established in April 1992 and commenced operations on August 24, 1992 as a regional air carrier. It came into existence after the local air transport was deregulated in Bolivia by a merger of existing charter companies. Aerosur was the first Bolivian airlines to introduce business class and first class on domestic flights. It plans to extend its international network and has 456 employees as recorded in March 2007.

With its steady growth, Aerosur has become the second largest airline in Bolivia and is now operating a large domestic network and also offers international flights to Madrid, Sao Paolo, Miami and Buenos Aires. In 2004 Aerosur had also commenced scheduling flights on a Douglas Super DC-3 to popular tourist destinations Salar De Uyuni and Rurrenabaque.

As of July 2007, Aerosur offers a range of flight services – domestic scheduled destinations to Cobija, Cochabamba, La Paz, Puerto Suarez, Rurrenabaque, Santa Cruz, Sucre, Tarija and Trinidad. Other services include international scheduled destinations to Buenos Aires, Lima, Salta, Sao Paolo and Asuncion. It also serves Miami and Madrid through wet leases with Ryan International Airlines and Air Plus Connect respectively. Flight services for 2007 include Caracas, Havana, Santiago, Mexico and Washington D.C. On March 2008 the airline will commence schedule flights to Arequipa and Cusco in Peru. Due to its wet lease with Ryan International Airlines, Aerosur provided charter service for the 2007 BCS National Championship Game in Phoenix, Arizona on behalf of the University of Florida.

Aerosur has also introduced Club AeroSur that offers the most competitive net fares and commission that overrides the Latin America travel market. Customers are encouraged to enroll online into the Club free of charge, to collect their flights and receive gratis flights – for every five flights collected with a customer’s Club AeroSur card a customer will receive a complimentary ticket to any destination of his choice.

For every five international flights collected, the customer will receive a complimentary international flight ticket. Flights can be collected over a period of 18 months beginning from the date of the first collected flight ticket.
